Distance Courses

The knowledge of Reiki and the ability to do Reiki healing is passed from Reiki Master to student. One can learn Reiki in a live class or at distance. If you are unable to find a qualified Reiki Master in your area, or if you prefer to learn Reiki from a specific Reiki Master who is not in your area, then distance training can be done.

In my experience, and in the experience of all Reiki Masters who perform distance training, all the distance initiations (attunements) connect you with the Reiki healing energies, just like an initiation in person. Including Reiki Masters from Japan, considered traditional Masters, perform initiations at distance.

The procedure for the Distance Reiki Courses is:

You request a Reiki course.
We arrange the payment of the course fee.
I mail you the course manual (English or Spanish) by traditional or electronic mail (if you choose the electronic version of the manual (PDF) you will receive a discount).
You study the course manual and practice the exercises to prepare for the Reiki initiation.
You can continously contact me (telephone or email) to ask me questions or to share experiences.
With the Reiki level 1 course, a Distance Reiki Session of one hour is included that allows you to experience the Reiki energies and assists you in preparing for the first Reiki initiation. This Reiki session is performed on a scheduled day and time that is possible for both of us. To receive the Reiki energies all you have to do is to be alone in a comfortable surrounding, without being disturbed. Afterwards we correspond (telephone or email) about your experiences during and after the Reiki session.
Next, we schedule the date and time for the Reiki initiation that takes one hour. You will need to be in a comfortable surrounding without being disturbed. Usually we talk by phone at the beginning and at the end of the initiation (approximately 20 minutes phone contact; if this is not possible for you we can communicate by email).
You continue to do the exercises from the manual to assist you in incorporating the Reiki initiation energies (usually this takes 3 weeks or more; depending on the student).
You practice the exercises from the manual that come after the initiation.
Now, you start to practice Reiki self-treatments (all levels), with the Reiki symbols received for that level (levels 2, 3 and Master).
You practice at your own pace, and we will be in contact regularly so that you can ask questions or share experiences.
I will give you access to additional exercises in the Reiki Class.
When you have finished the training I will send you the official Reiki certificate for the level that you have completed.

The distance Reiki courses can be adjusted to your needs. Each student learns in a unique way and I provide you with the guidance and support that you need.

Tera Mai™ Reiki I

Tera Mai™ Reiki I is an introduction to Reiki in which the history and use of Reiki is taught. In this level you will receive the first Tera Mai™ Reiki Initiation and this will enable you to work with the healing energies. You will be able to do basic treatments to yourself and others.

In the Reiki I course a one hour Reiki session is included so that you can experience Reiki for yourself, and moreover it will help you to prepare to do Reiki yourself.

The Reiki I Course Manual gives detailed information and helpfull exercises to increase the ability to do Reiki. It can be used as a reference during and after the course. This manual, as the manuals for the higher Reiki levels, is designed in such a way that it allows the student to do the course at distance.

After completing the course you will receive the official Tera Mai™ Reiki I Certificate.

Tera Mai™ Reiki II

Tera Mai™ Reiki II includes the second Tera Mai™ Reiki Initiation, and this will further increase your abilities to work with the healing energies. You will learn to do emotional and mental healing, and you will start to work with Reiki symbols. These symbols are an important part of the Reiki healing system. In this level you will also learn to do Reiki treatments at distance, so that you are able to do Reiki with people that are on the other side of the world, for example.

The Reiki II Course Manual includes step-by-step instructions on how to perform several healing techniques to assist in mental and emotional healing, more exercises to increase the ability to work with the healing energies, instructions on how to do long distance Reiki healing, and detailed information about the Reiki symbols and other healing symbols, and their specific use in healing.

Tera Mai™ Reiki III

Tera Mai™ Reiki III gives you the possibility to reach your full potential in working with Reiki. The third Tera Mai™ Reiki Initiation increases your ability to work with the healing energies. You can do Tera Mai™ Reiki III if you do not have the desire to initiate others into Reiki, but you do want to reach your full potential in working with Reiki. You can always do an additional course afterwards to become a Tera Mai™ Reiki Master.

Tera Mai™ Reiki III/Master

Tera Mai™ Reiki III Master consists of Tera Mai™ Reiki III and the process of learning how to do Tera Mai™ Reiki Initiations so that you can teach Tera Mai™ Reiki. To learn how to perform the Tera Mai™ Reiki initiations you will observe your Tera Mai™ Reiki Master performing all three Tera Mai™ Reiki initiations, or you will study the official Tera Mai™ Reiki Mastership video from Kathleen Milner (who developed Tera Mai™ Reiki). In this way the Tera Mai™ Reiki III Master course can be done at distance.

After completing the course you will receive the official Tera Mai™ Reiki III Master Certificate. You are then an official Tera Mai™ Reiki Master and can perform initiations and can teach Tera Mai™ Reiki.

As illustrated in the figure below, there are three levels of Reiki. After the second level you can decide to do the Tera Mai™ Reiki III/Master course (if you want to teach Tera Mai™ Reiki) or the Tera Mai™ Reiki III course (if you do not want to teach).

Tips for Beginners

Reiki is very easy to learn and everybody can learn to do Reiki. No special abilities or skills are required to be able to work with the healing energies. During the Reiki course the student is prepared to work with the Reiki energies. The ability to do Reiki always remains after receiving the Reiki initiations, also called attunements. The length of the Reiki course varies per Reiki Master but is usually not longer than half a day or one day. Besides going to a Reiki course there is the possibility to do the course at distance. Just as a Reiki treatment can be done at distance, so can the initiation process be done at distance. The Reiki energy is not bound to distance and works as well at distance as when the student is physically present with the Reiki Master. If you prefer to do the course at distance ask the Reiki Master how the contact will be, and how the information that is normally given during a class will be given to you.

Once you have decided to learn Reiki you have to find a Reiki Master who can do the initiation with you. When you search for a Reiki Master ask yourself with each Master that you contact: 'Does this Reiki Master feel right for me?'. Ask as many questions as you feel like and look carefully at the answers that you receive. The price and quality of a Reiki initiation are not always connected. It is not so that the more expensive the Reiki course is, the better the initiation and guidance is that you receive. If money is an issue you can look for Reiki Masters who do relatively cheap Reiki courses, but always make sure that you choose a qualified teacher. There are many Reiki Masters who accept students who can not afford their standard fees, so do not become discouraged too quickly when looking at the prices. When you contact a Reiki Master you can ask questions like:

Which Reiki system do you work with and what do you think of the other Reiki systems?
When and why did you start with Reiki?
Can you give me examples of healing that occured after Reiki treatments that you have done?
Why did you decide to teach Reiki?
How long have you been teaching?
Which Reiki levels do you teach?
How many students have you initiated?
How is the contact with your students during and after the initiations?
How much do you charge for the different Reiki levels?
Do you do distance initiations?
