1. Global Climate Change

As I finished reading the book ‘Spiritwalker’ (by Hank Wesselman), Europe was being hit by the worst floods in more than 100 years. This summer it has snowed twice in the Pyrenees Mountains close to where I live and the same happened in the Swiss Alps, and these are extraordinary events. Besides Europe, many other countries all over the world are experiencing extreme weather disruptions these days. These rare weather phenomena are not isolated events any longer; in recent years ‘records’ have been broken continuously.

The autobiographical book explains the spiritual journey of an anthropologist who, to his own surprise, got in contact with people living on Earth in a far future. Through my own experience with Reiki healing I know that time is not as rigid as we might think; as Einstein already formulated ‘Time and space are inventions of our Earthly minds’. The writer of the book is a scientist and, as a true scientist should be able to, he did not close his mind for something that at first could not be explained. His expanded awareness of the aspects of our world that we usually do not see, assisted him in this spiritual journey. In traditional cultures from all over the world these kind of journeys were (are) not something strange, but part of their reality. In the book is explained how in the near future a global climate change will result in the end of the society, as we know it nowadays, and the slow rise of new smaller societies living in balance with nature. The economy will be negatively affected by the climate disruptions as it will cause significant damage, especially in the dense populated coastal areas and millions of people will search for new places to live. Eventually a breakdown of infrastructure and technology will only allow those who can provide for their own necessities to physically survive on Earth.

We might think that climate change is a slow process that takes thousands of years, but a panel of leading world scientists, the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (http://www.ipcc.ch/), concluded in the year 2000 that even if we would stop our climate changing activities right now, little could be done in the short term to reverse the trend of global warming, and as humanity we will have to adjust to the increasing global temperatures, rising sea levels, increasing storms, droughts and other climatic disruptions. Below are two examples of information about the climate change that I read in the beginning of August. The first illustrates the significant and abrupt rise in global temperatures since the start of the industrial era. The second is one example, in Norway, of the melting glaciers all around the world.

The time series shows the combined global land and marine surface temperature record from 1856 to 2001. The year 2001 was the second warmest on record. This time series is being compiled jointly by the Climatic Research Unit and the UK Met. Office Hadley Centre. The record is being continually up-dated and improved. The principal reason is to detect climate change due to global warming through an increase in temperature in the instrumental record. Increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to human activities are most likely the underlying cause of warming in the 20th century.

The contrast between the two photos is stark. In the 1918 photo, the horizon is dominated by a massive white glacier, the island's mountains almost hidden. In the 2002 photo, the glacier is almost gone, leaving chunks of ice floating in the water and the mountains almost bare. "Our addiction to fossil fuels releases millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and this is what is causing temperatures to rise, and our future to melt before our eyes."

However, in our society in general we are still too concerned about the short-term economical impact of ‘Earth saving’ solutions. Governments like the USA ignore the conclusions and advise of institutions like the IPCC, a carefully selected panel of expert scientists from all over the world, with the only reason being the negative impact on the short-term economy. This is clearly illustrated by the denial of this country to sign the Kyoto treaty concerning the reduction of emmision of climate change inducing gasses. What they do not see, or what they do not want to see, is that in the long-term the economy and all life on Earth will be damaged in a much greater way if we do not stop the climate change inducing activities now.

We are living in an important time for humanity and the whole Earth with all the living beings on it. Our fellow human beings, the Earth and all living beings need our voice right now; it is time to let our heart speak out. We can no longer accept political leaders that do not act in the best interest for all life on Earth. All our actions have an impact and sooner or later we will experience the effects of our choices. It is up to us to let our actions be in harmony with all and to enable a new way of life. The economic interest is not a valid argument to stop ‘Earth saving’ policies, because if we allow that to happen we allow the Earth to be destroyed for our children and their children; and that destruction might happen sooner than expected. But we have the power to stop or to reduce the damage that we are causing, and to return to live in harmony again. What can we do? We can start to vote for those politicians who care about the Earth, we can become more aware of the pollution and unnecessary waste of energy that we cause in our daily life and try to reduce that, we can act out of compassion and love to all on Earth.

2. Reiki Universal Healing web ring

The Tera Mai Reiki Holistic Healing web site has recently founded the Reiki Universal Healing web ring (http://www.ReikiUniversalHealing.com/principles.html) to assist those who search on the Internet for quality Reiki treatments and courses. It contains a list of basic principles and ethics related to Reiki treatments and courses that are supported by all the member web sites. If you have a Reiki web site and provide treatments and/or courses please feel free to join the web ring; there are no costs involved.

3. Reciprocal Links Program

You can have your Reiki or Healing web site listed now at the Tera Mai Reiki Holistic Healing web site. The only requirement is a reciprocal link on your web site. In this way traffic to both web sites will be increased, not only through direct visits but also due to higher rankings in the major search engines that value link popularity of web sites. More information at:

4. Reiki Healing Experiences

Here you can read some of the experiences of people that received Reiki treatments or did the courses with me.

José – Spain – June 2002. "Although Hans does distant healing and courses I decided to visit him as we both live in the same city. In order to prepare my body and to become familiar with REIKI, he suggested having a REIKI session first for me to experience. The sensation was incredible and I initially started to feel a warm sensation in my head while he started the healing in my Crown Chakra area that moved and followed wherever he placed his hands. The feelings where of peace and understanding mixed with sensations of well being throughout the session. I also perceived images with my third eye like spheres of green and purple and white. There was also a feeling of movement or tunnel like travelling through space. Finally I perceived spiral symbols among others. After the session I was left with a sensation of joy and self-realisation for the rest of the day, I had vivid dreams and visualisation, relaxation and intuition was easier than ever."

Michaela - Austria - June 2002. "Before I did Reiki, I sometimes had a quite hard time as I dug my nose deep into atomic physics, cosmos, reality and so on and often felt just like "flying away". The first Reiki distance session was very relaxing and a good experience. When I got then the Reiki manual for Reiki I and learned the grounding exercise I didn't "fly away" any more but fluw away with my thoughts and was still rooted into earth. I do corporal mime and martial arts and Reiki helps so much to recharge, let go of tension and healing small pain you sometimes get from training. But there is much more to do with Reiki. You can be so creative, follow your intention and discover amazing things."

Barbara - USA - March 2002. I have completed Reiki II with Hans. One thing I have noticed is that the opportunity to use these skills have presented themselves into my life. My grandson was recently born with a problem digesting his food. The doctors were advising operations. While I held him, I prayed over him and used the Reiki symbols. He began to keep milk down with very little coming up. As the week went on, he began gaining weight. I have for several months performed Reiki at a distance....... thinking of him. He is able to keep food down, digest it and not need any operations."
